Good Scare

Gavin has given my heart two good scares this week.

The first one was Wednesday night. After coming home I got out of the van to clear some snow from our driveway and I left both boys in the van. Gavin was unbuckled, but I told him to stay in his seat. I left it running so they would have heat and so I could pull it forward when I was done.

As I was shoveling, I kept hearing strange noises coming from the van. I had no idea what they were and thought something was seriously wrong with it. All of a sudden I looked up to see Gavin in the driver's seat and I thought the van was moving. I ran as fast as I could and jerked open the door, prepared to take control of a vehicle weighing thousands of pounds which was bent on destruction. Thankfully it wasn't moving. Apparently he was just moving the wheel, which made the power steering make the noises.

The second incident occurred last night. I was in the process of making lasagna for dinner, but had gone into the bathroom. Gavin ran to the bathroom yelling, "It's bleeding, it's bleeding!" I quickly asked him what was bleeding, thinking something had happened to Peyton. He had a hard time telling me, but I soon realized it was the pan of water that was "bleeding." The phrase, "there are bubbles all over" kind of helped me out with that one. What a relief.
