For some reason Peyton thinks that two simple words are all that's needed to keep everyone in line, including himself.
"Get down."
Now you may be imagining how this got started, but in case you can't....
Having two boys in the same room, with their beds only a yard or so apart, can certainly produce much bedtime levity. At first we tolerated it, since Peyton couldn't hold out very long and would fall asleep after a few moments of fun. Now that he is older, he and Gavin can keep each other entertained for hours (literally) if left unchecked. This is where the command to, "Get down!" started in. We would enter the room to find him standing along the side of his crib, both boys laughing and carrying on.
After hearing this so much, Peyton now thinks this is something to be said anytime something that shouldn't be done is being done. He tattles on himself when he stands in Gavin's bed. He tells on Gavin when he's doing something he shouldn't. He even tells Daddy to get down when he's growling like an animal or wrestling with them.
The funniest part is that he intonates it just as we did all those nights. They say imitation is the best form of flattery, but at times I must disagree.
