Authentic Dinners

I do not know how to spell out the word for this, but basically it is a noodle wrapped around a filling. They normally dip it into vinegar. We had more than one person tell us there are over a hundred variations to how they can be filled. We got to try six or so and they were all good!

This meal was made as part of our hutong tour. This meal was prepared for only four people! It was all delicious and I hated to see so much go to waste. The dish at the top right, which appears predominantly green, is a garlic root and chicken dish which is wonderful. Below it was a yummy squash dish and to the left of that was a cucumber, chicken, and peanut creation.

This meal was for a 10 year anniversary celebration. One of the friends we visited took us along and we enjoyed a nice evening with four other couples. At this meal, I managed to chew a shrimp so fast I could hardly taste it. I did leave the head behind though. My favorite dish was a meat and egg creation. The egg was cooked into a very thin layer with the meat spread on top. Then it was rolled up and cut into slices. Dipped into vinegar, this was very tasty.

This is lotus root with rice. They pack the root with the rice, then cut it into slices. It tasted similar to sweet potato with a little bit more chewy consistency. Posted by Picasa
