You Know You're Out of Shape....

.....when you don't even make it to the "warm up/cool down" speed on your treadmill.

I've decided the few extra pounds (4 or 5, depending on the day) still remaining from my pregnancy with Peyton need to go. They've resided long enough on my body and they can now go plague someone, anyone else. Also, my stomach muscles have been all but obliterated after two children - not to say they were in great shape beforehand. Jello Jigglers were made to jiggle, but stomach muscles were not! Last, we will have to do a lot of walking, carrying luggage, hurrying, etc. during our trip. I have got to build up some endurance or the trip is going to kill me!

So I've decided, albeit only two and a half weeks before we leave, to get back in shape. I've been meaning to do it for oh so long, but of course other things always took priority. Now I have the trip to spur me on, so I'm taking advantage of it.

Jason unearthed the treadmill in our basement, which has been posing as a nice shelf for various pieces of junk, boxes, whatever. I climbed on ready to conquer my flabbiness, but alas, I was not even able to make it up to the "warm up/cool down" mode until I started jogging. I think that mode is intended for fast walking, seeing as many people use a treadmill for running. It became my jogging mode, whereas the nothing mode at the bottom became my walking mode. That probably doesn't make sense, but suffice it to say it's going to take much longer than two and a half weeks for me to get in shape. Well, I have to start somewhere.

I walked about a mile with a litle bit of jogging in there. Today I did 1.15 miles in 20 min. Not great, seeing as some people can run a mile in 10 min.! Okay, comparison kills contentment. I also hit the weights, which is something I've rarely done. Jason's dad bought an excersise center that he never ended up using. Mom Rice gave it to us when we visited for two days in July. It really is nice because you can do lots of weight training excersises on it without having to do anything more than change position.

Well, here's to my war on baby fat and pregnancy flab! I'll keep you updated!
