Much Ado About Nothing

I feel that title describes the content of this blog precisely. I don't really have one monumental or interesting thing to write about. Rather there are lots of little tidbits that I'm going to clump together, for lack of a better way of putting it.

-The layout of my blog should not in any way be attributed to me. It is the complete doing of my loyal blogging friend, Rebecca. She is my personal "blog designer." It's nice to have connections.

-Peyton turns 15 months today! Whew! He is still not walking, though he does occasionally, without warning, do a Frankenstein walk type of thing. It seems he gets distracted by having something in both his hands and then, voila! he starts taking little steps. I think his feet leave the ground, but I'm not quite sure. It's almost as if he is sliding them forward so that if he needs them under him they are available at a moment's notice. If he weighed 300 pounds, it would probably sound like, "Clump...pause...clump....pause...." as he takes a few steps.

-We got a flat tire on our car last week. It happened while I was out shopping. It sounded flat, but when I got out to check at a gas station it looked fine and did not give at all when I kicked it. When I got home (limping along a back street), it still appeared fine. By the next day though, it was definitely flat. Thankfully, Jason remembered later that he had paid a little extra when we bought them (soon after we moved to Milwaukee 3 yrs. ago) to have them replaced for no charge if they were not worn down. He took the car to a nearby Walmart with an auto center yesterday and they replaced the tire for free.

-Today I sorted and re-organized the boys' clothes. This seems to be a constant process, especially now that I have two. I finally got all the "too small" clothes put back in their proper bins and pulled out a few things for the coming fall. Though my mind tells me it is still summer, I know some cool night might not be all too far away. I also went through all the bins and pulled out stuff neither of my boys have worn or that I probably wouldn't use again so we can sell them in a yard sale. I filled three, almost four, grocery bags. I may not have eliminated a bin from the collection, but several lids fit a little better now!

-Last Wednesday morning Jason picked pears with an older lady from our church. Because both boys were still sick, I did not want to take them out in the extremely hot and uncomfortable weather. Thursday I made a small batch of pear sauce, but wasn't too impressed with the color or results. Gavin liked it though and ate almost the whole batch by himself. Yesterday I made pear sauce from the rest of the pears from one tree because they were starting to get soft and weren't looking too good (the people don't want the pears, so they don't care for the trees or spray). I got enough to can four jars. A lot of work for four jars. The color and results were better this time, so I think I've developed a few tips. I still have quite a few left from another tree, but am trying to let them get more soft so they don't take as long to cook down. Hopefully I'll get six jars from these, but I'm not sure. The same lady told me she can also get grapes for free, so she is going to schedule a time for us to go get them. Jason is looking forward to this - he bought me little jelly jars and fruit gel while waiting on the new tire!

-Our neighbor did not end up coming to the progressive dinner because her knees were hurting her. I suggested for her to come to just the part at our house, but she still didn't come. I was disappointed, but at least she knows she was welcome.

-Okay, this is a side note, but I just selected the spell check feature. It does not recognize the word blog or blogging!?! Seeing as it is the spell check for a blogging site, that doesn't seem to make much sense. It didn't recognize Peyton either, which of course I expected, but the suggestion hit me a little funny - "python".

It's nice that the lady from church is willing to give you all that produce. I think some homemade jam sounds yummy!

Hahahahaha, python! Sorry... I thought it was funny :o)

I got a good chuckle out of the "python" spelling correction! That was funny!

I never did spray all those trees. Did you know that technically you're supposed to spray after every rain?! I just don't have the time to go running around to different houses to spray trees! I will still go and see if there is any good fruit on them though. Can't hurt to try!
